A behavioral companion built to help you recognize the early Build-Up and reach for support to keep you safe.
What to expect
About 15–20 minutes to set up.
We will not ask for your name. You will get a coded ID instead.
You can pause and come back at any time. Your progress saves automatically and "Save & Exit" is in the header from screen 2 on.
You decide who, if anyone, knows you are using GUIDO.
Consent
Please read and confirm before we go further.
What GUIDO does
GUIDO helps you notice the early phase of the Behavioral Cycle (the Build-Up) and offers concrete skills and, with your consent, contact from a chosen support person.
What we store
Your responses are saved under a coded ID, not your name. The link between your name and that code, if any, lives outside this platform with the clinical partner running your program.
What we do not do
GUIDO is not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, please reach out right now:
988 — Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text)
988, then press 1 — Veterans Crisis Line
911 or your local emergency number
You are in control
You can withdraw at any time. You can ask for your data to be exported or deleted by contacting your Rutgers Trial Administrator:
Name: TBD
Phone: TBD
Email: TBD
Contact info will be filled in once Rutgers names the trial administrator. For pre-trial preview questions only: The Fires Within at info@the-fires-within.com.
Your coded ID
This is how GUIDO will know you. It is not your name, and you do not have to remember it — your device will.
Your coded ID

Tip: Save my coded ID lets you save a file to a location you choose so you can use GUIDO from another device. Restore from file reads that saved file back to avoid typing your ID by hand.
Meet your companion.
Most people call it GUIDO. Some give theirs a different name. Either is fine.
You can change this later in settings. The rest of the screens will use this name.
Editing one section
Tell GUIDO about you.
A few sections below. Your answers stay private and help GUIDO recognize your personal Build-Up patterns. You can skip anything that isn't right for you and come back later.
Take your time. Your answers are saved as you go. You can stop here and come back any time — your progress will be waiting. Use Save & Exit in the header whenever you need to step away.

BYour personal information
CVeteran serviceSection new — for Rutgers input
Optional — VA assigns ratings in increments of 10%.
DYour education
EYour triggers
Things that radically change your emotional state. Pick the areas that apply to you and describe what kinds of situations set you off there.
FYour trauma history
You can skip any item. You can return later. Nothing here is required. If reading or writing about these is hard right now, that is OK — close this section and come back to it when you are ready.
No rush. "Save & Exit" is in the header if you need to step away. What you write here is yours and stays in your own voice.
Pick areas where you have experienced trauma and describe only what you are comfortable sharing right now.

We ask this because we want to know how to help — not to keep you out of the program.

KYour opt-insActivates after BAA + IRB
These are declarations of intent. Each integration activates only after Rutgers IRB approval and the Google Cloud BAA. It is fine to say "No" to any of these — none are required to use the program.
Smartwatch / wearable health data
When activated, allow GUIDO to read daily metrics (sleep, heart rate, HRV, activity) from your wearable for pattern recognition.
Location data
When activated, allow GUIDO to use your location to detect high-risk environments you have flagged.
Therapist or family summary sharing
When activated, share a weekly summary of your check-ins with one chosen person you have named.
Guardian Ring activation
Allow GUIDO to reach out to your Guardian Ring on your behalf when patterns suggest you could use support. Saying "No" is fully OK — GUIDO only notifies you.
Your Guardian Ring
Up to three people you trust, plus a built-in emergency line. With your consent, GUIDO can reach out when you are in a Build-Up and could use them.
This slot is built in for you and cannot be removed.
GUIDO tries the first channel; if no response in 10 minutes, tries the next; then the next.

Verification: Invited
Verification activates after Rutgers IRB approval. Each guardian receives a one-time confirmation via their preferred channel. Audit log timestamps are anchored to an independent timestamp authority for legal integrity.
Cascade mode
When GUIDO needs to reach your Ring, how should it move between guardians?
Review your answers
One last look before we wrap up. Honesty matters more than polished words — what you wrote in your own voice stays as you wrote it. Tap "Edit" on any section to go back and change something.
Choose where to start.
GUIDO works alongside the workbook series. Mapping the Cycle is the eight-week foundation. You can also start without one.

✓ ONBOARDING COMPLETE
You are set up.
GUIDO has what it needs to start. From here, you will check in, work the workbook if you chose one, and have your companion available when you need it.

This is pre-production test mode. Real participant onboarding will go live once the Google Cloud BAA is signed and the Rutgers IRB protocol is approved.
Each guardian gets a one-time confirmation message on each channel they prefer. GUIDO logs every step — sent, delivered, awaiting, responded — to build a chain-of-custody record.

Save and exit?
Your progress is saved on this device. Come back any time — you'll pick up right where you left off.
If you'll use a different device next time, save your coded ID first (screen 3).
Did I hear you right?
I heard:
—
Your words, in your voice. You can accept, edit a misheard word, or record again.
Need help with onboarding?
A small AI assistant will live here that you can ask questions like "why are you asking this?", "can I skip this?", or "what does HIPAA-eligible mean?"
Coming soon — for this preview, try the (i) icons next to each question for plain-language explanations.
